Aberdeen’s Global Equities Team now have a successful track record on the Aberdeen World Equity fund dating back to 2002, most recently successfully navigating the banking crisis whilst other global funds faltered. The team select stocks from a buylist comprising the portfolios of Aberdeen’s regional funds, so investors should note that commonality with those funds will be high. They compare these stocks across regions and sectors in search of valuation anomalies before forming the portfolio.
Bestinvest have now met most members of the team which gives us confidence of their strength in depth. The fund has also demonstrated remarkable risk controls given its concentrated, unconstrained nature - in its worst month it only underperformed the MSCI World by 3%.
