Each month, we ask our Research Analysts to identify one asset class that they believe is likely to outperform, is highly topical or is an asset class that we believe has been overlooked by investors. Our Analysts then make their pick of our Manager of the Month, from our top-rated funds within this sector.
This month, markets continue to fluctuate and the economic backdrop remains uncertain. Therefore we have looked to a traditionally defensive sector - government bonds. In spite of the crisis in Greece and elsewhere in Europe there are still countries where government debt is viewed as a safe haven.
Our manager of the month for June are Paul Thursby and Peter Geikie-Cobb. They Co-manage the Thames River Global Bond fund. The fund invests mainly in OECD government bonds and it is anticipated 25% of returns will be attributed to currency. The fund is offshore but qualifies for inclusion in an ISA and is available on the Cofunds platform.
