JO Hambro UK Opportunities is a focused, bottom up driven, equally weighted portfolio of about 33 stocks drawn from the FTSE 350 universe. The manager adopts a disciplined, conservative stock picking approach which has historically provided strong defensive qualities. Not surprisingly this investment style lagged the peer group in the 2009 “dash for trash”, however we believe the manager’s investment philosophy is well positioned to perform going forward. Whilst the fund does not specifically target a dividend yield, this is currently running at about 3.8%. We have raised the fund rating to 5 stars.
