Manager of the Month – July 2010

Manager of the Month – July 2010 by Adrian Lowcock

Each month, we ask our Research Analysts to identify one asset class that they believe is likely to outperform, is highly topical or is an asset class that we believe has been overlooked by investors. Our Analysts then make their pick of our Manager of the Month, from our top-rated funds within this sector.

In July we have seen markets stabilise as immediate fears over the European Sovereign debt crisis have eased, for the time being at least. Also the news on the oil crisis has become more positive. However the outlook for the global economy remains unclear and it is with this in mind we look at how investors can get exposure to commodities without taking on unnecessary risk.

Our manager of the month for June are both Bradley George / George Cheveley. They Co-manage the Investec Enhanced Natural Resources fund. The fund invests directly into commodities and related equities, targeting long term growth. It is able to sell investments it doesn’t hold and profit from falls in prices. As such we expect the fund to be less volatile than you will see investing directly into a commodities index.
