Permanent replacement for Mark Niznik on SL UK Opps

Standard Life have appointed Caspar Trenchard to lead their UK Opportunities fund. Trenchard recently joined the company from First State and will be generating investment ideas across the UK Smaller Companies and UK Large Cap equity teams. He will be reporting to Harry Nimmo, Head of UK Smaller Companies, who temporarily took over the running of the fund in April 2007 following the departure of Mark Niznik.
Recommendation
Trenchard achieved monthly outperfomance of 0.61% in two years running First State British Opportunities fund. Though he currently lacks the 2.5 years track record we require to rate a fund, we shall follow his progress closely.
