Merrill Lynch Commodities Income IT - New Rating
By ROBERT HARLEY 06/12/2005
An equity income fund investing across international energy and commodity stocks, targeting an initial yield of 4.25% net of charges. The fund will be consist of a focused portfolio of c40-60 stocks split between the two sectors. Due to the dividend requirement the emphasis will be on larger cap companies with positive cashflow characteristics as opposed to smaller, more speculative operations.
Richard Davies, the named manager has been a member of the respected Merrill Lynch commodities team since 1994, he has a four year track record managing precious metal mandates. Davies will be supported by Robin Batchelor head of the Merrill Lynch Energy Desk and manager of the MLIFF World Energy Fund since launch in 2001. As well as providing a high dividend yield we believe this style of fund may offer investors a less volatile means of exposure across the two sectors. The fund is awarded a two star rating.
