Leon Howard Spink took over the management of this fund from Adriaan de Mol van Otterloo on 1 December 2005. Howard Spink delivered exceptional returns when managing a similar fund at Jupiter. He adopts the same approach at Schroders. His aim is to deliver above average returns whilst taking less risk than other managers in his peer group by investing in high quality businesses with strong finances, and proven management. The manager seeks ideas throughout the market in a variety of companies ranging through large, medium sized and smaller businesses. There is a tilt towards the smaller end of the spectrum, as this is where Howard Spink believes the best growth opportunities exist.
