BlackRock take Merrill Lynch role
Management of the Merrill Lynch American Opportunities fund has passed to Neil Wagner, co-head of BlackRock’s small and mid cap growth team. The move follows the merger of Merrill Lynch and BlackRock’s fund management arms earlier this year. Wagner has been at BlackRock since 2002, having previously worked as a fund manager at MFS and as an analyst at DFS Advisors and Berkshire Partners. Former manager Ronald Zibelli and his team have left Merrill Lynch to pursue other opportunities.
Recommendation
We do not currently rate this fund - investors interested in a small cap North American fund should look the Legg Mason US or Schroder US Smaller Companies funds which we do recommend.
