Investec lose Hanbury
Investec have announced that Daniel Hanbury, manager of their UK Alpha and UK Smaller Companies funds, has left the group and will be moving to River and Mercantile. He is replaced on the UK Smaller Companies fund by Philip Rodrigs, who had worked alongside Hanbury since joining Investec last year. Rodrigs previously worked at T Rowe Price as a Pan European analyst. Hanbury’s replacement on the UK Alpha fund is Ken Hsia, who joined Investec in 2004 and has been managing high performance and unconstrained mandates.
Recommendation
Hanbury had built an impressive track record on the UK Smaller Companies fund and was being considered for a Bestinvest rating when his departure was announced. Investec have attributed the fund’s success to its process and their UK team but, with Rodrigs lacking a track record of his own, the fund no longer qualifies for a rating.
