At Bestinvest we are always on the look out for promising new managers, who have yet to gather significant assets under management. James Ridgewell started managing money at New Star in 2001, interestingly inspite of strong performance to date his fund is still just under £50m.
Ridgewell tends to split his fund evenly between what he defines as recovery plays and undervalued growth companies. The portfolio is well diversified and like most special situation type mandates there are no formal portfolio constraints. The fund is awarded a three star rating.
