Knight’s days at Gartmore over by Mark Hinton

Gartmore has parted company with veteran US Opportunities manager Gil Knight after transferring the mandate to Marsico Capital Management, with Cory Gilchrist as named manager. The £170 million Gartmore US Opportunities fund under Knight had suffered from performance issues and Bestinvest had already downgraded it from 3 to 2 stars. Marsico will manage this mandate with a similar multicap growth style as under Knight’s tenure and will also take over Gartmore’s US Opportunities SICAV and US Growth funds.

The fund rating on Gartmore US Opportunities is therefore suspended pending a meeting with the Marsico management.
