Henrietta Luk manages this Dalton Strategic Partners fund from her office in Hong Kong. She typically invests in small and mid cap stocks although she has the flexibility to invest in any market segment. Though she has invested in a variety of stocks, her investments are often characterised by their growth potential where Luk targets strong management track records, niche products or businesses and barriers to entry. The manager controls risk at the stock level by focusing on company fundamentals and businesses with a stable operating environment. She is also prepared to rotate her portfolio aggressively if it is not performing as expected.
Luk has very ambitious targets, seeking to limit the downside in falling markets and maximise returns in all conditions. As a result we would expect outperformance over the short and long term as demonstrated by Luk’s track record of value added . However, with a fund such as this investors should note that there is considerable risk in execution of investment decisions. In other words, bad decisions could have a far greater impact for this fund than for more conservative peers.
