New Star Select Opportunities - Downgraded
By ROBERT HARLEY 25/10/2007
As a result of his strategy of focusing on very small growth companies, manager Patrick Evershed has boxed himself into an illiquid part of the market, leading to outright poor performance. Poor stock selection has also proved to be a contributory factor. This approach is considered too risky and will be vulnerable to further liquidity shocks. As a result we have downgraded the fund from 3 to 1 stars - investors should switch out.
