Smith relinquishes M&G Asian by Marcel Porcheron

Michael Godfrey and Matthew Vaight have been appointed co-managers of the M&G Asian fund, replacing Aled Smith. Smith, who had run the fund since March 2007, remains involved as deputy manager. He is also still in charge of the M&G Global Leaders and M&G American funds, both of which are rated by Bestinvest.

Godfrey joined M&G in 2004 and has been part of the Global Equity team since it was founded in March 2005. As an analyst in the Global Equity team, he has been focused on Asian business models and was appointed deputy fund manager of the fund in September 2007. Vaight joined the group in 1996 and the Global Equity team in 2005 - he was recently named deputy manager of M&G Global Basics.
