Green fingered by New Star
By ANTON FRENCH 16/04/2008
On the 7th of April 2008, Allianz announced that Trevor Green had resigned from the company and that Andrew Neville has been promoted to fund manager of the Allianz RCM UK Mid Cap fund & with Jeremy Thomas appointed manager of the Allianz RCM UK Growth fund both with immediate effect. Neville joined Allianz in 2004 from Baring Asset Management where he managed institutional and retail mandates, prior to that Neville worked at AIB Govett Asset Management, where he co-managed the UK Smaller Company Funds. Thomas joined Allianz in September 2004, as a portfolio manager for Retail and Institutional mandates, having previously worked at ISIS Asset management and Schroders. Green is set to join New Star this spring but no news has been announced on the position he’ll take up.
Recommendation
We have suspended the 2 stars rating for the Allianz RCM UK Mid Cap fund and the Allianz RCM UK Growth fund, as the new fund manager does not qualify for a Bestinvest rating. If you’d like to switch out the UK Mid Cap fund then we would recommend the Old Mutual UK Select Mid Cap or the Rensburg UK Mid Cap Growth fund. If you’d like to switch out the UK Growth fund then we would recommend the Liontrust First Growth or the AXA Framlington UK Select Opportunities fund.
