Schroder UK Mid 250 - downgrade
By ROBERT HARLEY 30/10/2008
Andy Brough’s UK Mid 250 fund has now trailed its reference benchmark for the past 18 months; this in turn was preceded by a long period of flat relative performance. Whilst we accept that market conditions are difficult, we believe the challenges the manager faces are compounded by the size of assets he controls in this space which we estimate to be around £3bn, an issue that could continue to weigh on the fund. As a consequence we have reduced our rating on his fund to a hold. Alternative managers who focus on the FTSE 250 universe include Paul Spencer at Rensburg, who manages less than £100m.
