Edinburgh Investment Trust - new rating
Neil Woodford was appointed manager of the trust in mid September 2008. He has since set about re-positioning the portfolio to reflect his macro and stock specific views; this process is now complete. The underlying portfolio is not an exact mirror of his open ended fund, but is essentially a carve out of his larger company ideas - the fund focusing primarily on FTSE 100 and top end FTSE 250 stocks. The trust also carries a couple of debentures maturing in 2014 and 2022; given the managers expectations for total returns going forward over his typical investment horizon, he has taken the decision to fully invest in equities. The trust is awarded a 3 star rating.
