Under the UCITs III banner, UK based investors can for the first time access a mirror exposure to the offshore Alphagen Capella long-short hedge fund , run by Roger Guy since 1999. Gains are taxed under the more favourable capital gains regime, rather than as income tax.
The aim of the fund is to produce a positive absolute return over the long-term, regardless of market conditions, by investing in companies based in Europe or who conduct a significant proportion of business there. Gross exposure can be up to 200% and the fund can invest across the capitalisation spectrum.
