Threadneedle UK Equity Income - new rating

By STEPHEN MARRIOTT 19/03/2009

Threadneedle UK Equity Income - new rating by Stephen Marriott

Leigh Harrison joined Threadneedle in January 2006 as their head of UK Retail Funds, assuming control of this fund at the same time.

The fund follows a similar approach to the income funds that Harrison managed at his previous employer Credit Suisse. That is, he combines top down macro themes with a diversified approach to stock selection. Relative performance has been particularly strong under Harrison’s stewardship with the manager and his team underweighting banking stocks some two years ago and well as moving to a classically defensive stance earlier than most.

The fund has been awarded five stars and should be considered as one of the more cautious equity income funds within the peer group.
