BNY Mellon Global Strategic Bond - new rating
By ROBERT HARLEY 10/04/2009
A new fund launch, managed by Standish, a US based fixed income specialist and wholly owned subsidary of the BNY Mellon Group. David Leduc, the named manager, has 22 years experience managing fixed income mandates, including responsibility for an existing US mutual fund similar in structure to this vehicle. The fund will invest globally across the fixed income universe, leveraging off Standish’s global research resource. The fund is structured relative to the Barclays Capital Global Aggregate Bond Index, essentially a high quality global benchmark. However, the nature of the mandate also provides the manager with sufficient flexibility to allocate to higher yielding fixed income sub sectors, as we move through the credit cycle. Currently, the fund is invested 95% in quality bonds; going forward the allocation to higher yielding bonds could quite easily reach 30%+ given the fund’s relative structural allowances. The fund is awarded a three star rating.
