Standard Life Ethical Corporate Bond - new rating
By ROBERT HARLEY 23/04/2009
This is a dark green, ethical corporate bond fund, investing predominantly in the sterling investment grade market. Ethical criteria prevent the fund from investing in gilts, but as an alternative the fund may invest in quasi- sovereign credits. Alasdair Maclean, the portfolio manager, successfully negotiated the credit crunch by defensively positioning the fund in these higher quality credits, going forward he will seek to re-position the portfolio in corporate credit as companies return to the credit markets to raise new funds. The fund is awarded a three star rating.
