We have suspended our 5 star rating of the Gartmore European Selected Opportunities fund due to the forthcoming change of fund manager. The current manager, Roger Guy, will be stepping down in the New Year but he will remain at Gartmore. He will be concentrating on his absolute return mandates which include the 5 star rated Gartmore European Absolute Return fund.
John Bennett will replace Roger Guy and joins Gartmore in January, taking control of the European Selected Opportunities fund shortly after. Until recently, Bennett was at GAM for over 16 years, running European equity funds.
We will be reviewing our fund rating once we have met with Bennett in the New Year. In the meantime, we suggest investors maintain existing holdings in the fund but do not add to them.
