The fund suits investors looking to take advantage of the increasing number of companies in the Asia Pacific region that are paying high yields. Mike Kerley took over the New Star Pacific Growth fund in November 2009 and it has been revamped into Henderson Asian Dividend Income to suit his style and investment approach. He has a flexible investment approach to achieving yield and is aware of stock valuations at all times. As investors turn to Asia for income, we believe this strategy is likely to continue to perform well. The open-ended Henderson Asian Dividend Income Unit Trust is similar to the London-listed closed-ended investment trust Henderson Far East Income Limited (LSE:HFEL) run by the same manager.
An income focused fund providing exposure to Asian equities that is managed with a "total return" mindset. While focusing on income, the fund manager also looks to participate in capital growth. The fund's target yield is 1% above the market.
The fund manager selects good quality Asian companies that are either high yielding or are able to grow their dividends over time. The manager chooses his stocks on the basis of valuations and is aware at all times what the companies he is holding are worth.
The fund can also make use of derivatives to enhance returns.
