Investment process

This fund is designed with a twenty year investment 'life cycle' in mind. In the funds earlier years its investment allocation will be more targeted towards equities, becoming more conservative the closer it comes to the year 2020.
Fidelity's models (which are based on modern portfolio theory) take into account the predicted levels of return, volatility and correlation across the range of different asset classes and suggest the optimal balance of assets over the time period.
Fidelity's own internal funds are used to provide asset allocation with portfolio manager Joo Hee Lee selecting the underlying fund managers.
