Overview of BLACKROCK QIS CONSENSUS

The fund manager seeks to achieve a total return by primarily using Blackrock's own fund range. The investment management team will make asset allocation decisions and will look to add value by using either equities, fixed income products or by hedging indices. Whilst low cost tracker funds have a place within a balanced portfolio for core exposure to equities and bonds we prefer a more active approach.

Bestinvest says

This fund may appeal to large pension funds or schemes where the aim is to minimise costs as well as risk relative (in terms of deviations away from the benchmark) to global assets. Whilst low cost tracker funds have a place within a balanced portfolio for core exposure to equities and bonds we prefer a more active approach. Such as our recommended multi-asset funds or a diversified selection of our rated regional funds.

Investment process

To achieve its goal of providing total returns the managers invest primarily through investment in units of collective investment schemes managed by the Manager, adopting the "The consensus strategy". This strategy seeks to replicate the same asset allocation as the average UK pension fund and implements this through index funds. The underlying funds are themselves invested in equities and to a lesser extent in government securities and other fixed interest investments, alternative assets and cash. Derivatives and forward transactions may be used for hedging purposes.

The value of your investments and the income from them can go down as well as up, and you can get back less than you originally invested. Past performance or any yields quoted should not be considered reliable indicators of future returns. Before investing in funds please check the specific risk factors on the key features document or refer to our risk warning notice as some funds can be high risk or complex; they may also have risks relating to the geographical area, industry sector and/or underlying assets in which they invest. Prevailing tax rates and relief are dependent on your individual circumstances and are subject to change.
