Renaissance Capital are longterm investors, their style of managing money focuses mainly on established and profitable companies that have a reasonable valuation and offer above average growth prospects. The company management must be able to demonstrate a proven track record and have a major interest in the business. The fund will also invest in private placements in the form of convertible securities which have historically provided some downside protection. The manager is prepared to run with his winners to maximise returns, this can result in some positions accounting for a large proportion of the portfolio. Investment objective is to achieve capital growth and outperform its benchmark, the Russell 2000 Index.
