Investment process

When analysing companies as a potential short the managers monitor both quantitative aspects and qualitative aspects of a company’s behaviour.
Analysis of the report and accounts, the balance sheet, cashflow and trading performance is complemented by additional focus on behavioural aspects of a company, its management and market positioning.
Stocks to short include those with aggressive accounting, low earnings quality, financial weakness. They look for signs of weakness - profit to cash convertion, hidden liabilities.
