Bestinvest says
This fund was formally known as Global Titans and specialised in multinational companies. However, in 2007 the fund’s name, manager and mandate were changed to allow it access to a broader investment universe. Although subsequent performance has displayed some promise it has also been volatile so we are not yet confident that the manager merits a Bestinvest rating.
The fund seeks to maximise total return by investing at least 70% of its total net assets in the equity securities of companies domiciled in, or exercising a significant part of their economic activity in, developed markets. The research process begins with a universe of over 3000 companies with a market capitalisation above £2bn and sufficient trading liquidity. Ideas are sourced from company meetings, conferences, brokers and other BlackRock teams. Research is then undertaken in four research clusters – cyclical, defensive, financial and information - to identify 80-100 high conviction recommendations, with a focus on identifying catalysts likely to drive underappreciated stocks over a clear time frame. The global managers then form a core global model portfolio of 40-60 stocks which they believe offer at least 30% absolute upside potential.
