Given how interdependent Water and Agriculture it makes perfect sense to put them together in a fund rather than separating them as is normally the case. The performance fee on the fund is prohibitive as far as we are concerned, 2% over a cash benchmark, especially with interest rates being as low as they are. Furthermore since launch the fund has significantly under performed other funds in the sector although this has been in a significantly rising markets and not across the cycle which better suits this product.
The investment strategy of the Thames River Water & Agriculture fund is to generate superior returns to the MSCI World Index with significantly lower volatility by investing in equities exposed to food and water.
