The mandate allows for investment across the FTSE All Share, however given the manager's UK Smaller Company background, there tends to be a bias to this end of the market.
The manager controls risk on a stock by stock basis. There will usually be approximtaely 40 stocks in the portfolio. The portfolio usually has very little commonality with the benchmark and so performance can be expected to differ markedly on occasions.
