James Carthew
Carthew joined Progressive in February 2001 as Investment Director responsible for the Advance UK Trust, replacing Richard Barnett who retired in April 2000. Prior to Progressive Carthew worked at M&G for 16 years starting in operations and graduating to Investment Manager and Director for M&G Investments Ltd in 1994. Over this period he assumed responsibility for managing and restructuring a range of investment trusts and life funds including the Fund of Investment Trust Shares, the High Yield Distribution Fund, the High Income Trust, the Income Trust, and the Equity Investment Trust. This role also included UK equity research responsibilities. Carthew was educated at Kingston Grammar, he is an associate member of the UKSIP.
