What type of ISA does Bestinvest provide?

Bestinvest provides stocks & shares ISAs, including Junior stocks & shares ISA. We do not offer cash ISAs.

What types of investments can I hold in my ISA?

You can hold funds, ETFs, Investment Trusts and UK listed shares within your Online Investment Service ISA account. Using our Investment Selector, you are able to filter ISA qualifying investments by clicking the ‘ISA Account’ tab.

How many different ISAs can I hold per year?

You can have a stocks & shares ISA and a cash ISA in the same tax year.

Your stocks & shares ISA and cash ISA can also be with different ISA providers but you must only hold a maximum of one stocks & shares ISA and one cash ISA in any tax year.

Junior ISAs differ as you are only able to hold one Junior stocks & shares ISA and one cash ISA at any time.

How can I check how much ISA allowance I have left?

You are able to check how much you have contributed to your ISA so far this tax year by expanding the ‘Your ISA Allowance’ tab presented on screen when your log in to your account.  Alternatively, clicking the ‘Add Money’ tab within your ISA portfolio gives you a summary of your ISA contributions.

We do not take into consideration any cash ISA contributions made.

What should I do if I have oversubscribed?

Our website will not allow you to oversubscribe your full allowance, but if you have mistakenly opened more than one ISA in any one tax year, or have in combination with a cash ISA or by investing with more than one provider you should contact HMRC directly on their ISA helpline: 0845 604 1701.

What can I transfer to a stocks & shares ISA?

You can transfer cash ISAs to us as well as stocks & shares ISAs. You are not able to transfer from a stocks & shares ISA to a cash ISA.

If you currently hold investments outside of an ISA, they can be transferred to us and converted into a stocks & shares ISA, known as a Bed & ISA. This process involves the sale of your investment and its repurchase through an ISA.

Can I transfer ISAs from previous tax years to you?

You can transfer any previous years’ ISAs to us at any time without contributing to this year’s allowance. If the funds or shares you hold elsewhere are available on our Online Investment Service, you may be able to transfer these without selling your investments. If your current provider does have to sell the investments and transfer the cash to the Bestinvest ISA, this will be done within the ISA wrapper.

Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future returns
