Meet our pension heroes

Our pension heroes are the driving force behind Pension Week. They spend their days helping people with their pensions – so anything they don’t know about pensions isn’t worth knowing. Over the week they will be sharing their expertise, either by giving telephone pension consultations or speaking on stage at our event in Birmingham. Here we find out a little more about them.

Ann-Marie Atkins

Ann-Marie is our Managing Partner for financial planning in the North West. She is one of our most experienced financial planners, with more than 23 years’ experience in the financial services industry. She is Chartered, a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and Certified. Ann-Marie’s areas of expertise are tax planning, investment planning, retirement planning, estate planning and corporate financial planning. Look out for her on the panel at our Birmingham pension event.

Shah Mir

Shah is a financial planner from the Thames Valley region with five years’ experience in the financial services industry. He holds a Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning and is a qualified Pension Transfer Specialist. Shah is currently studying towards Chartered status, and plans to finish his studies before the end of the year. He graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with a Bachelors Honours degree in Accounting.

Matthew Morgan

Matthew is a financial planner based out of our Bristol office. He spends his days advising clients on pensions, protection, tax and investments. Matthew joined Tilney in January 2017, having previously spent four years as a securities trader. Matthew is a Diploma-qualified financial planner and is currently studying towards Chartered status. He also holds two CII Certificates in Discretionary Investment Management and Securities Advice and Dealing.

Eliana Sydes

Eliana will be on the panel at our Birmingham event. She specialises in complex questions around retirement planning, including divorce and death. She is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, holder of the STEP Professional Postgraduate Diploma (PPgD) and she has Later Life Adviser Accreditation with SOLLA. Eliana is based in Exeter and is part of our dynamic financial planning team serving the South West. She became a financial planner following a midlife career change in 2008 and has achieved significant acclaim by achieving the highest grade in the world for her recent STEP exam.

Marc Thompson

Marc is a Diploma-qualified financial planner who expects to achieve Chartered status before the end of the year. He joined Tilney in 2016 and has 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Marc has an extensive collection of pension qualifications from the CII including the Award in Pensions Updates, Pension Income Options, Pension Planning and Retirement Income Planning. He is also a qualified Pension Transfer Specialist.

Mike Williams

Mike has more than 21 years’ experience in the financial services industry, holds the Diploma in Financial Planning, and is awaiting the result of the final exam required to achieve the Advanced Diploma and Chartered Financial Planner status. Mike is experienced in a wide range of financial planning matters including retirement planning, investment planning and estate planning. He has particular strengths in pension transfer work, and he will be showcasing his expertise at our Birmingham pension event.
