We were recently lucky enough to have Stephanie Flanders visit our London office to offer her views of the global markets and speak with Ben Seager-Scott, our Investment Strategy Director.

Stephanie was the BBC’s economics editor for five years and host of BBC Radio 4’s Stephanomics. In November 2013 she left the BBC to join JPMorgan Asset Management as its chief market strategist for the UK and Europe.

In this informative video, Stephanie and Ben discuss a variety of topics including:

  • the prospects for equity and bond markets in the current economic climate
  • the impact geopolitical events such as those in Eastern Ukraine have on investment strategy and the importance of looking past short-term volatility
  • the state of the UK recovery and how, whilst the cost of living is soaring at a time when wages are stagnant, unemployment is at record-low levels and growth is strong

The value of your investment can go down as well as up, and you can get back less than you originally invested. Funds may carry different levels of risk depending on the industry sector(s) in which they invest. You should ensure that you understand the nature of any fund before you invest in it. This broadcast does not constitute a personal recommendation or advice to invest. If you are in any doubt as to the suitability of an investment please contact one of our advisers.
