A clearer understanding

For many people, being able to enjoy retirement is a top priority. With this in mind, we believe that having an understanding of what you currently have together with what you might want or need is an excellent starting point to review and plan for the future.

The aim of a pension consultation is to help you gain a clearer understanding of your retirement goals, objectives, existing arrangements and the options available to you.

The pension consultation involves a phone call with a qualified financial adviser and pension expert. They are held at our cost – you don’t pay for the initial consultation and there is no obligation to do business with us afterwards. Pension consultations tend to last around 20 minutes, and they can take place at a time that is convenient to you – even during your work lunch break!

We’ll get to know you

When you pick up the phone, the first step will be to find out what you need help with or what questions you need answering. Our pension heroes often help people with the below, and much more:

  • Understanding your retirement goals and objectives, and your time horizon
  • Understanding your existing retirement and pension arrangements, including current plans and contributions together with any previous ‘frozen’ pensions you might have
  • Translating pension jargon into plain English
  • Exploring the various options available to take pension benefits tax-efficiently
  • Assessing State benefits

General guidance or personalised advice?

Our pension heroes can look at your pensions and help you to understand what you have. They can also give you general information about pensions and talk you through the different ways they are able to help you. But they can’t give you a personal recommendation during the first call.

If you do need personalised advice, they will discuss and agree with you how best to provide this, together with any associated costs or advice charges for the next steps.
