Markets are currently experiencing unusually high share dealing volumes. During this period price quotes may expire early. To avoid this issue you should accept quotes several seconds before the quote countdown expires. When purchasing shares please do so in units rather than selecting a cash value.
AXA Framlington Japan is a multi-cap fund with a growth style that aims to achieve capital growth through a diverse portfolio investing in Japanese companies.
Based in Edinburgh, the manager Chisako Hardie undertakes her own research into companies, looking for sustainable growth, proven management and strong balance sheets. Her portfolio construction is a blend of macro themes and bottom-up stock selection which leads to a diverse portfolio of around 100 stocks. Her current themes are automation/robotics, electronisation of automobiles, rapid growth in the number of foreign visitors and the ageing population.
Investments are normally held for many years and the portfolio has a low annual turnover, where positions decrease when the manager feels they are fully valued and rebought upon weakness.
We like this fund as Hardie has a strong investment process and whilst there are no guarantees around future performance, she has provided good returns with relatively low volatility.
The fund has been awarded a three star rating and will feature on our top-rated funds list – our research team’s premier selection.
The value of investments, and the income derived from them, can go down as well as up and you can get back less than you originally invested. Different funds carry varying levels of risk depending on the geographical region and industry sector in which they invest. You should make yourself aware of these specific risks prior to investing. Current or past yield figures provided should not be considered a reliable indicator of future performance. This is not advice to invest.
