FTSE 250 movers: Leisure stocks fall; Mitie makes gains

10 June 2021

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 250 was down 0.7% at 22,590.03 in afternoon trade on Thursday.
Leisure stocks were under the cosh, with Wagamama owner Restaurant Group, pub chain Wetherspoons and Cineworld all weaker. The sector was likely being hit by recent reports that the easing of lockdown on 21 June - which would see an end to mask-wearing and social distancing requirements in restaurants and pubs - could be pushed back by up to a month.

Outsourcer Mitie surged to the top of the index after it posted a slump in full-year profits but said 2022 profit was set to be "materially ahead" of its prior expectations.

Broker Numis said: "Overall, a very strong set of numbers at first glance, and with potentially significant consensus upgrades to come through we see scope for further upside despite a FY22E price-to-earnings of 14x (falling to 10x FY23E) pre-upgrades."
